Emancipating Gaia

by Caroline Whalley

emancipating gaia

Choose the right premise,
Not an option to lose
Sacrifice is progress
Greed the fuse.

We’ve been squandering
Our convenient lives,
Wallowing self- absorbed,
Knowing our planet dies.

Act with faith. Speak out.
One humane voice, stronger together,
“Walk a year in dignity or ride in shame,”
New generations treading paths of pain

The fear is here, fight with light
I look to our youngsters,
Their right to choose
To wear stronger shoes

Day 18, of ‘one a day’ poems. By the end of April 2021, 30 poems will create a series. Each poem covers a fragment, a snippet taken consecutively throughout a day.
